about

A short collection of electro-acoustic modular synth feedback experiments. Influences include Snawklor, Mark Fell, AFX, Merzbow.

The following notebook excerpt reveals some of the conceptual thought going into the patches:

A stand-in within the set, for that which doesn't fit into the set. Zizek paraphrased Badiou by stating that which is internal to a system but doesn't fit within a system, stands for universality. Is universality inherently paradoxical, or just for it to have a place within a system?

If any system is a mathematical construct, any construct might be seen as a sub-set of universality already. Putting a 3-dimensional container inside another 3-dimensional container, which is already inside it, creates a torus like rotation (or shape) in the mind. The set within the set, which represents the non-set, is like the hole in the donut. Paradoxically, all non-donut is the hole/container. Maybe this is what Hawking refers to when he describes the shape of the universe as a donut-like geometrical space-time object.

If space-time can be considered a construct, reality may be considered a sub-set of universality. In order to depict, describe or perceive this relationship, you run into a paradox when you make use of the reality construct in order to depict, describe or perceive that which contains it.

Is the fact that space-time can be observed and measured, proof that it is not the universal? Or is space-time the final/first edge between reality and concept? The set which contains all phenomena, also contains all sets and can only exist as concept.

How then do further concepts nest within this framework? Or is being nested being bound by reality concepts? What really is a non-reality concept other than that which is paradoxical? Can we say that concepts which adhere to the space-time construct are reality concepts and concepts which subvert the space-time construct through paradox are indigenous to the conceptual realm? Is the nesting of non-reality bound concepts into mathematics paradoxical before you have even begun to describe the paradox itself? Before you even begin dealing with any particular paradox, you are already in a paradox, that which can be thought of as conceptually indigenous. The paradoxical is inherently counter-intuitive, the construct within a construct is a meta-construct (like us).

The big-bang as meta-initiator may have happened, paradoxically and counter-intuitively within the space-time continuum in appears to have created.
